EH&S Field Specialist Jobs

Environmental health & safety (EH&S) field specialists analyze work environments and work procedures. EH&S field specialists identify chemical, physical, radiological, and biological hazards by inspecting workplaces for compliance to safety, health, and environmental regulations. EH&S field specialists may also design programs that protect workers and the environment from disease, injury, and damage.

Besides assuring that their workplace complies with governmental and industry safety standards, EH&F field specialists seek to EH&S field specialists do many types of activities to ensure workplace compliance with environmental, health and safety standards. They conduct tests, collect samples, and hold routine and special inspections for potentially hazardous materials. They may also examine and test machinery and equipment to ascertain that it is operating properly, and check to make sure that workers are wearing protective gear like masks, gloves, and hardhats, per safety guidelines. EH&S safety field specialists also determine whether or not hazardous materials are being stored correctly, and identify potential hazards.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for environmental health & safety field specialists is expected to grow by about nine percent from 2010 to 2020, as new environmental regulations and laws will require more and different workplace procedures.
