Many travel up to 75 percent of their time, and are  sometimes asked to relocate.<\/p>\n<p>Some standard job requirements for a field technician might include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"arrow\">\n<li>    High school diploma  <\/li>\n<li>    Compliance with background checking policy  <\/li>\n<li>    Familiarity with all aspects of oil gathering  and field operations  <\/li>\n<li>    Gauging and maintenance experience within the  oil industry  <\/li>\n<li>    Good interpersonal skills  <\/li>\n<li>    Self starter who can work independently  <\/li>\n<li>    CDL driver&#8217;s license  <\/li>\n<li>    DOT documentation  <\/li>\n<li>    Ability to work with computations  <\/li>\n<li>    Basic computer skills  <\/li>\n<li>    Analytical with attention to detail and solid problem  solving abilities  <\/li>\n<li>    Ability to formulate written reports and  documentation  <\/li>\n<li>    Related work experience at the well level (well  tender\/pumper)  <\/li>\n<li>    Understanding of artificial lift systems  <\/li>\n<li>    Vocational or technical training preferred  <\/li>\n<li>    Certified to operate an ATV  <\/li>\n<li>    Ability to travel to various jobsites;  occasional overnight travel required  <\/li>\n<li>    Experience as a machinist, mechanic, welder, and  forklift operator preferred  <\/li>\n<li>    Ability to read blueprints  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mechanical aptitude is extremely important, and field  technicians must also meet certain physical requirements, since pulling,  pushing, lifting, bending, standing, balancing, carrying, sitting, walking,  climbing, and working in confined spaces are all part of the job.
