Experts estimate that the workforce employed in the Marcellus Shale formation would grow to over 9,000 by 2015. The direct workforce needed for a single well was estimated to be approximately 400 people working in nearly 150 different occupations. In Pennsylvania alone, Marcellus Shale drilling operations could employ more than 10,000.
