HSE claims analysts are typically required to have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, or a specified minimum number of years of experience in a safety related position or HSE discipline. Specialized HSE training and certification may be required.
Claims analysts commonly possess a solid understanding of insurance coverage, statutes and regulations, and have the ability to work without disclosing confidential information. They are required to have strong computer skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint. A strong attention to detail is desirable, as is a working knowledge of health and safety regulations and regulatory agencies in general. HSE claims analysts are usually multi-taskers, capable of completing multiple assignments in a timely manner. Industry related experience is particularly valuable. HSE claims analysts must be proven problem solvers with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills who can stick to deadlines and deliver on time. They are experts in incident investigation and emergency response.
